You will probably be thinking the same as me, “what, why is contouring dying out”, don’t freak there is two other things starting to replace it that do the exact same thing (without using bronzer/dark shades which many people find hard to get correct.
So, what are the two things that are replacing the beauty hype of contouring? The two things are “baking” and “strobing”. The next question you will be wondering is what are these two things? Well here I am helping myself understand this new trend while helping you all learn what it is and how to do it.
Baking has been around for a while in the beauty community although hasn’t been very much publicized until earlier this year. Baking is where you do your normal base (ie foundation), then apply a thick layer of concealer in an upside-down triangle under your eyes and blend the edges so they slowly disappear into your foundation completely. Then brush on a healthy (thicker than usual) coating of loose face powder and allow it to set for a few minutes before dusting most of it away with a clean fluffy brush (powder brush).
Strobing relies on highlighters and natural daylight light to define features on your face. It leaves the face with a youthful/ more radiant look. Strobing delivers a shimmery/ dewy effect. Strobing is known to work better with people with dry skin because it leaves you with a dewy finish and it will extenuates oils easier than a matte finish base, but that doesn’t say people with oily skin cant strobe as they can use a matte foundation and a primer and still achieve the strobing effect without their natural oil shining through.
Products needed
Baking- a lighter powder than your natural skin tone, concealer and a powder brush.
Strobing- highlighter (If you are a fair to medium tone, I recommend using a champagne colour and if you are tanned to dark, I would use golds and bronzed shades) and a tapered brush.
Thanks again to HeyBeautyBee for letting me guest post for her and be sure to check my blog out as it would mean so very much to me.
Good luck with strobing and baking.

I never really understood baking, I always thought I was doing it completely wrong. I now realise its just because I am using a powder the same shade as my skin, I just need to go a little lighter! Thankyou xo

So strobing is basically just putting highlight like normal? but without contouring?
I’m still confused hahah
and I’m so scared to bake cause I think it will leave really visible white parts on my face haha

I love this! I’ve been really into the strobing lately as opposed to contouring. I personally think it looks more natural.
